I cannot believe the time comes closer to release my next book ‘Clipped Wings’. I have been working on this project for some months now and it has been a lot more complex then I originally thought about it. The project has taken me on a different journey and I am thankful to have met so many wonderful brave survivors from the process. Those who have given their story have given it in either written form or have been interviewed by myself, of course it needed to provide an option because it is an unsettling subject to many. I have found the process interesting which is perhaps the wrong word but I have learnt so much from others (once again). I am sure once the book is released you will truly see what I mean, the similarities connecting the stories show that survivors are connected in a community from the behaviour that has been forced onto them. I am delighted to have a few men that are also contributing and this is something I really wanted to include because the statistic is just as real for men as it is for women, 1 in 4 women and 1 in 6 men experience domestic abuse in their life.
Just because ‘Clipped Wings’ is coming soon doesn’t mean that this is just simply a blog post of news about it, in fact you can get involved yourself. There are 3 ways:
1- You still have time to give your story if you’re a survivor, submissions close on the 31st August 2017. Contact me for an information pack.
2- There is currently a Kickstarter campaign running at the moment and up until the 7th September 2017. You can back the campaign by pledging which will give you a signed copy of the book upon the release, your name in the acknowledgements and some merchandise. Find out more here.
3- You can share this blog post, the Kickstarter campaign as well as liking, commenting and sharing any of my social media posts.
Thank you to all those who continue to support the journey I am taking as an advocate to those in abusive relationships. Together we are stronger and louder.
