Jennifer speaks with passion and insight about her lived experience. She has the ability to talk objectively and with amazing insight into her experience while remaining one of the most positive voices for recovery from domestic abuse I know. She offers hope and inspiration to anyone that had experienced living with coercive control and will challenge professionals who far to often see those that have experienced domestic abuse as a stereotype.
Jennifer kindly agreed to be part of the first ever Derwent Valley LitFest. Her talk and discussion was informative and entertaining. Whilst the subject of domestic abuse is not a nice subject, Jennifer was able to show that a positive outcome/future is possible. She is clearly passionate and knowledgable about the support needed for people going through an abusive relationship whatever form taken, but also in terms of improving the support that is on offer.
Highly recommend Jennifer and would be a credit to any event.
Jennifer Gilmour is an inspiration. She has come to my bookshop, Write Blend, on two occasions to give talks about her books. Her thoughtful, calm approach has left the audience with a great feeling of hope and her warmth and wit make her talks a delight. I would have no hesitation in recommending her and her books. She provides an essential service and it is no overstatement to say that she is a life-saver.
The platform is a weekly slot every Wednesday 12-1pm, on Wednesday 22nd May 2019 Jennifer Gilmour shared her story with a public audience within PositHive. Jen’s story included her work as a domestic abuse campaigner and there were people in the crowd who were moved by her story and kept her talking for a good while after. This raw honest face to face discussion is often what is lacking in our lives and the effects of platforms past told us that Jen would have a profound effect on members.
