On Monday evening I was in London all set for the first Digital Women Awards. I was lucky enough to be a finalist for Digital Role Model, Digital Mother and Digital Women for Good.
Digital Women: a community created to empower one million women through digital skills, in association with NatWest Business announces the DigitalWomen Awards, an award show in London that celebrates the incredible work that women are doing in the digital environment across multiple industries, on the 9th March following International Women’s Day as part of the ‘Each for Equal’ theme.
A study by the UK commission for employment and skills has shown that the proportion of women in digital is down to 33% which is far below the UK average of 47%.
More than 2 million people are employed in the digital sector and the industry is worth £137bn to the UK each year but just 26% of those working in the digital sector are women. Projections suggest that 1.2m people will be needed to fill jobs in the digital sector by 2022. 40% of employers reported that having a large proportion of vacancies aren’t just causing increased workloads but they’re also losing business due to not being able to fill job roles.
Here I am on the night, I was thrilled to be able to network with other inspirational women in business and find out about everyone’s passion. I certainly need to start connecting with those I spoke with online because I know we can support one another and help raise each other’s profiles as well.

Lucy Hall Director of Avviso Media Ltd and Founder of DigitalWomen Said:
“We are very excited to bring the DigitalWomen awards to the female digital and business community and beyond. These awards are the perfect opportunity to showcase and raise profiles of women doing great work. I truly believe that the best way to encourage more diversity into digital and entrepreneurship is by sharing the work and stories of relatable individuals whose success seems attainable and through the DigitalWomen Awards I believe we will achieve that.”
I was truly delighted to have received Highly Commended for Digital Mother and Digital Woman for Good:

The Digital Women, Digital Mother of the Year recognises and celebrates women who are working in digital or using digital in business and also happen to be parents. Digital Mothers are juggling work and home life often having to overcome many new challenges.

The Digital Women For Good Award recognises and celebrates women who are working to help others or to highlight important issues and causes. At the core of what they do wether in business or otherwise, these women are working hard to help and support other people as well as great causes through the use of digital and social media.
I want to take this opportunity to thank Lucy and commend her on all her efforts with the Digital Women community, it was an insightful evening with a great way to celebrate international women’s day.
