I have been challenged to write a diary for the week to tell what I get up to and how a typical week may look for me. I have kept many diaries over the years from my childhood, teens and into my adulthood so I thought I would enjoy this as I haven’t written in a diary for a good few years. I also thought it would be good to share with you all so you can see what it is like behind the scenes.

Monday 28th August 2017

Today I did some early morning work as I had a family day at the beach planned. I created an E-Newsletter for all the brave women and men who are telling their stories for my next release Clipped Wings, the submission date is on the 31st August so it was just a little reminder. I have to say that the project has a lot of support already and I am thankful to everyone who is involved because without everyone the awareness wouldn’t exist.

I enjoyed a lovely hot day (with an east coast wind) at Hornsea, my husband and three children all had as much fun as I. Paddling in the sea, castle building and a lovely walk finished off with some ice cream.

After spending a lovely two weeks of enjoying my husband at home with me he returned to work today. I guess I could say that as well as getting back to reality and playing catch up with some work that I will of course miss having him around. My husband and I make a very good team, he is a huge support with the work I do and I am lucky to have such a support. Rob is my rock in life, my best friend, soul mate and lover; I never thought I would find such happiness in my life especially with everything I had gone through before I met him. Rob hasn’t had it easy because he has had to pick up all the broken pieces and earn trust he shouldn’t have had to earn in the beginning, learning to love again.

Today I did a lot of correspondence and organising my diary, I had to retire my Filofax a few months ago as I couldn’t keep up with the input of meetings etc and carrying it around so I have finally committed to my iCal on my iPhone especially as it links to my iMac. I don’t have to worry that I am going to be without my diary anymore and can book people in straight away. I thrive of being organised and many will have heard me say that I am like Monica out of Friends with my stationary.

In the afternoon my daughter had her friend around for a playdate. It was lovely to have this time to watch their imaginations as they did role play most of the afternoon, with a fun shoe lace competition. The summer holidays are almost over and they have gone fast, It will be strange once the children go back to school and I will have to readjust again.

Thursday 31st August 2017

Submission deadline day for Clipped Wings and lots of story entries coming in, I spent most of my early evening corresponding. The day was more of a day off for me today as my son had his friend around most of the day, a trip to the park was on the cards and they even took part in some den making. It was refreshing to have this time to be completely focussed on a true summer holiday day, I allowed my mind to be thought free of all the jobs I needed to get done which is a huge challenge for me.

I did do some early early morning work and published my August Wrap Up blog post, I feel better if I have spent some of the day working toward a project that is midst completion. The mind monkeys seem to leave me alone if I allow myself part of the day to do this and this has been a huge challenge over the years to address but I have finally being able to find some balance in my life. It is tempting just to keep networking, writing, blogging, posting etc but if I brain dump it and come back to it then it doesn’t feel so bad.

However this evening my Kickstarter campaign reached 100% and is now fully funded, it doesn’t stop there as people can still pledge until the 7th September. It is exciting to have reached this goal and with time to spare of course, I am lucky to have such a support for this.

Friday 1st September 2017

Today I had 2 meetings, 1 of which someone wanted to meet me as they are soon to be going on a mental health course and wanted a signed copy of Isolation Junction. Meeting different people and hearing different stories really rings true to what I am doing, my writing is more than writing as it brings a message to the readers. I am lucky to have received such supportive messages and comments over the last week as it comes closer and closer to the release of Clipped Wings.

Today was fuelled by tea and coffee and looking back perhaps I shouldn’t have drank so much. I did however finish the day with a trip to the park and a movie with my husband and three children.

Saturday 2nd September 2017

Another day of early networking and planning before heading out on a lovely sunny day for a day at Hull’s Freedom Festival. The Freedom Festival celebrated 10years of running and has grown over the years, this was my second year of attendance and thoroughly enjoyed it last year that we couldn’t miss it this year. The festival is free to event although there are some ticketed events that are affordable but sell out like hot cakes.

I have to say I love the artistic value and the creativity of the acts and happenings within the festival but today this one had to be my favourite; a prosecco cocktail bar on wheels.

And here I am on the train, I was delighted to get the opportunity to have a little ride round with a complimentary glass of prosecco. I had so many thoughts on how this would make an interesting story.

We spent most of the day in the sunshine, enjoying the food and drink. The children loved it as well as there is so much to look at and get involved with including a DJ FrietMachine which was the most random fun we must have had all weekend, literally a DJ there whilst you make your own chips.

Sunday 3rd September 2017

Last night my mother in law came down to stay and so we couldn’t resist taking her around the Freedom Festival and enjoy another day of entertainment, food and drink. Judy plans to come down next year for the whole thing, she had such a good time with lots of laughter and certainly tired at the end of the day.

I watched a dance showing a love and hate relationship and thought how it connects with domestic abuse and how the term freedom comes into play. It was certainly thought provoking and it was nice to enjoy the weekend with little work and looking for those connections in every day life.

Thank you for joining me on this relaxed but working week with me. Don’t miss out on my blog posts by signing up to follow my blog in the right hand column.
